The Chamber of Wholesale and Retail Merchants of Paraguay (Comampar) reports a notable increase in poultry and pork sales, which have become the main alternatives to expensive beef. Miguel Tolces, vice president of the organization, highlights this trend as a direct response to families seeking more affordable options for their household budget.
Consumer behavior reflects an adaptation to current economic circumstances, prioritizing family budget efficiency. The decision to replace beef with more economical alternatives represents a strategy to optimize household spending.
Regarding fish consumption, Tolces notes that while it has experienced a slight increase recently, it remains a minority option compared to chicken and pork. This historical trend persists despite changes in the meat market.
Comampar reports a positive year-end in commercial terms, with optimistic prospects for 2025. The sector observes a gradual recovery in consumption, although it identifies room for additional market improvements.

In response to the current situation, the commercial sector has implemented a price reduction campaign extending until December 20. This initiative, representing the second phase of a program initiated in November, offers significant discounts on basic basket products, ranging from 20% to 40%, aiming to facilitate access to essential products for Paraguayan families.
