Paraguay achieved a significant milestone in tourism during 2024, welcoming over 2.2 million visitors according to the latest institutional statistical report from the Paraguayan Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur). The data, compiled in collaboration with the Directorate of Migration, reveals a substantial 22% increase in visitor arrivals compared to 2023.
The visitor composition included 1,061,338 tourists and 1,172,404 day-trippers, demonstrating strong growth across both categories of travelers. This diversification in visitor types indicates Paraguay’s appeal for both extended stays and short-term visits, reflecting the country’s versatility as a destination.
The economic impact of tourism reached unprecedented levels, with revenues surpassing USD 766 million. This figure, jointly reported by Senatur, the National Directorate of Migration, and the Central Bank of Paraguay, underscores tourism’s growing contribution to the national economy.
The remarkable growth stems from a comprehensive institutional strategy encompassing international promotion, improved connectivity, and the formalization of tourism service providers. Additional focus areas include technological integration, sustainable practices implementation, and strengthened public-private partnerships, all contributing to effective policy execution.
